Local H2 production and distribution

Combining a 500 MW electrolyzer and an autothermal reformer, Jade Energy’s hydrogen hub will produce green, blue, and e-hydrogen on site using renewable power, CO₂ capture, and shared heat integration—linking Wilhelmshaven to Germany’s industrial centers and driving the national hydrogen transition.

The hydrogen projects at Jade Energy will combine a 500 MW electrolyzer and an autothermal reformer (ATR) to produce green and low-carbon hydrogen directly on site. Powered by renewable electricity from nearby offshore wind farms and the on-site power plant, the electrolyzer will generate hydrogen from water, reusing its waste heat for LNG regasification and supplying oxygen to the ATR.

The ATR will produce hydrogen from natural gas or e-NG while capturing over 98% of the resulting CO₂, which will be sent to the CO₂ export terminal for storage or reuse. Both units will be connected to the national hydrogen pipeline network, linking Wilhelmshaven to Germany’s industrial centers and supporting the ramp-up of RFNBO-compliant hydrogen supply.

Together, these projects will turn Jade Energy into a flexible and integrated hydrogen hub, producing green, blue, and e-hydrogen through shared energy, heat, and CO₂ infrastructure while advancing Germany’s low-carbon energy transition.
