Senior Project Manager – Civil & Marine

Wilhelmshaven

Who we are

Jade Energy Solutions is developing the Jade Energy Terminal in Wilhelmshaven, Germany’s only deep-water port and one of Europe’s most strategically significant energy infrastructure projects. Designed as a multi-energy hub, the terminal will enable the large-scale import of LNG and e-NG, with the flexibility to handle future green energy imports such as hydrogen. It will also be directly connected to Germany’s national gas grid, rail network, and emerging green energy infrastructure.‍

At a time when Europe is reshaping its energy supply chains, Wilhelmshaven offers a unique combination of deep-water access, existing industrial infrastructure, and strong connectivity to Germany’s grid and pipeline networks, with reach into broader European energy corridors. Jade Energy Solutions is building on these advantages to create a long-term asset that supports both near-term energy security and the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries across Germany and Europe.‍

We are a lean, ambitious team at an early and exciting stage, building something that matters, at a location that matters, for the long term.

The Role

As Project Manager - Civil & Marine, you will be responsible for the development, coordination, and technical oversight of all civil, structural, geotechnical, marine, and infrastructure engineering activities associated with the Jade Energy Terminal. You will act as the Owner’s engineering representative towards EPC contractors, engineering consultants, classification societies, port authorities, and regulatory bodies. The role requires strong technical leadership and extensive experience in the delivery of large-scale energy and port infrastructure projects. A key aspect of the position is the design and integration of marine infrastructure, including LNG berths, jetties, loading facilities, dredging interfaces, quay structures, and associated utilities.

Tasks of the job

  • Lead and manage all civil, structural, geotechnical and marine engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from concept development and permitting through FEED, EPC execution, construction and commissioning.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the quality, cost, schedule and timely delivery of all civil and marine engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with project objectives and commercial requirements.
  • Develop and maintain discipline design criteria, technical specifications, engineering standards and design philosophies, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations and industry best practices.
  • Act as the Owner's Engineering focal point for all civil and marine matters, providing technical leadership and strategic direction to engineering consultants, Owner's Engineer teams and EPC contractors.
  • Lead the engineering development of marine infrastructure including LNG and e-NG berths, jetties, trestles, mooring and berthing systems, dredging works, quay structures, marine utility corridors and associated loading and unloading facilities.
  • Manage technical interfaces with port authorities, regulatory agencies, marine consultants, classification societies and other key external stakeholders.
  • Lead civil and marine engineering support for permitting activities, environmental assessments and regulatory approvals.
  • Manage the civil and marine engineering scope during EPC tendering processes, including preparation of technical tender documentation, bid evaluations, clarification processes, contract negotiations and contractor selection.
  • Support contract administration and change management activities, ensuring that technical decisions are appropriately reflected in project contracts, schedules and budgets.
  • Review, challenge and approve engineering deliverables prepared by consultants, contractors and suppliers, ensuring that designs are safe, constructible, operable, maintainable and cost-effective.
  • Identify and manage technical, commercial and execution risks within the civil and marine scope, developing mitigation strategies and supporting project governance processes.
  • Lead and participate in HAZID workshops, constructability reviews, value engineering exercises, risk assessments and project assurance activities.
  • Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, electrical, pipeline, environmental and operations teams to ensure successful multidisciplinary integration.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and project team members, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, safety and continuous improvement.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering certification preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in civil and structural engineering within the energy, LNG, petrochemical, offshore, or port infrastructure sectors.
  • Mandatory experience with offshore LNG infrastructure, including LNG jetty design, LNG berths, marine loading facilities, and associated port infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of marine structures, geotechnical engineering, port and harbour design, and coastal engineering.
  • Experience acting as Owner’s Engineer or Client Representative is highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Fluent in English; German is advantageous.

What we offer

An opportunity to contribute to one of Europe’s most impactful energy transition projects, within a dynamic international environment and a landmark energy and port infrastructure development.
